Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Eye contact: Holding the eyelids apart, flush eyes promptly with copious flowing water for at least
20 minutes. Get medical attention immediately.
Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash skin thoroughly with mild soap and plenty of
water for at least 15 minutes. Wash clothing before re-use.
Get medical attention immediately.
Inhalation: In case of inhalation, remove person to fresh air.
Keep him quiet and warm. Apply artificial respiration if necessary and get medical
attention immediately.
Ingestion: ************************************************************************
NOTE: Never give an unconscious person anything to drink.
************************************************************************
If swallowed, wash mouth thoroughly with plenty of water and give water to drink.
Get medical attention immediately.
Notes to the physician: No specific antidote. Treat symptomatically and supportively. In case of inhalation
may cause CNS toxicity.
In case of ingestion induce vomiting in alert patient.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media: Material is not combustible. Use extinguishing media appropriate to surrounding fire
conditions.
Fire fighting procedure: Cool containers with water spray. In closed stores, provide fire-fighters with selfcontained
breathing apparatus in positive pressure mode
Unusual fire and explosion hazards: When heated to decomposition, may release poisonous and corrosive fumes of CO,
CO2 and HBr.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions: Evacuate area.
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus, protective gloves and boots (not rubber).
Methods for cleaning up: Absorb on sand or vermiculite and place in closed container for disposal. Ventilate
area and wash spill site after material pickup is complete.
Handling and storage
Handling: Keep containers tightly closed. Avoid breathing vapours and any other bodily contact.
Storage: Store in a dry, cool, well-ventilated area away from incompatible materials (see
"materials to avoid"). Keep away from light.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus, protective gloves and boots (not rubber).
Stability and reactivity
Stable under normal conditions when kept in dark
Decomposes in the presence of light
Materials to avoid Aluminum, calcium, zinc, magnesium and their alloys. Strong oxidizers and strong
bases. Attacks natural rubber and certain types of plastics.
Conditions to avoid: Keep away from light and heat
Disposal considerations
Waste disposal: Dissolve or mix the material with a combustible solvent and burn in a chemical
incinerator equipped with an afterburner and scrubber.
Observe all federal, state and local environmental regulations when disposing of this
material.
