Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
The substance is not hazardous.
Measures below are recommended as a general rule.
General notes:
Never induce vomiting, or give anything to drink or eat. Seek medical advice if you feel unwell. If the victim is unconscious, place in the recovery position.
Following inhalation:
Bring the victim to fresh air and protect from cold. Seek medical advice in case of respiratory difficulty, unease or persistent headaches.
Following skin contact:
Remove contaminated or soaked clothes, wash contaminated body parts with water.
Following eye contact:
Rinse immediately and thoroughly with water, holding eyelids open; seek specialized medical advice in case of persistent redness or irritation.
Following ingestion:
Rinse mouth with water. Seek medical advice and show the container or label.
Notes for the doctor:
Treat symptomatically.
Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed:
No specific immediate or delayed effects are anticipated from acute or chronic exposure. Ionic imbalance may be observed if high quantities are absorbed.
Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed:
No particular measures required. Eyewash station recommended at the workplace.
Fire-fighting measures
Extinguishing media:
Suitable: Powder, foam or CO2 extinguisher. Adapt according to other products stored beside.
DO NOT use: Direct water jet.
Hazardous combustion products:
Release of ammonia (NH3) and sulphur oxides (SO2 and SO3).
Special protective equipment for fire-fighters:
Standard self-contained breathing apparatus.
Additional information:
Contain contaminated firefighting water.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:
No particular measures required. Avoid breathing dusts and contact with eyes. As a general rule, wear standard protective clothing: overalls, boots, gloves.
Environmental precautions:
No particular measures required. As a general rule, prevent entry into drains. Avoid contamination of surface waters, ground waters and soil.
Methods for cleaning up:
No particular precautions required. Collect by sweeping and/or suction; remaining traces can be rinsed with water. Do not reuse. Do not reintroduce into the original container. Collect into a suitable and labelled container, and treat as waste.
Handling and storage
Precautions for safe handling:
No particular protective measures.
Non-flammable product.
Avoid dust formation.
Handle carefully to avoid accidental release.
Follow general occupational hygiene rules.
Do not eat, drink or smoke when using.
Wash hands carefully after handling of the product.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:
No particular technical measures.
Keep in the original container adequately closed and labelled.
For quality reasons, store in a well-ventilated place, protected from moisture, frost and heat.
Keep away from food, drink and animal feedingstuffs.
Specific end uses:
Product for professional use.

Reactivity:
No known hazardous reaction in normal conditions of use.
Chemical stability:
Decomposes upon heating from ca 100°C.
Hazardous decomposition products:
Release of ammonia (NH3) and sulphur oxides (SO2 and SO3) above 500°C.
Disposal considerations
Product / Packaging disposal
Not considered as hazardous waste according to Directive 91/689/EEC. Dispose of as Ordinary Industrial Waste, according to national rules into force.
Waste codes / waste designations
06 WASTES FROM INORGANIC CHEMICAL PROCESSES
06 03 wastes from the manufacture, formulation, supply and use (MFSU) of salts and their solutions and metallic oxides
