Any other information on results incl. tables

The oral ALD for 1,1,2,2,-tetrachloro-1,2 -difluoroethane was > 25000 mg/kg bw.

Rats receiving doses of 11000 mg/kg bw and above showed initial weight losses and diarrhea the day after dosing.

After doses below 11000 mg/kg bw, the weight loss was slight, diarrhea was observed the day after the dosing, and some rats appeared to be hyperactive.

There were no clinical effect at 670 mg/kg bw.

There were no pathologic changes, 14 days after dosing, in the brain, spinal cord, heart, liver, kidneys, adrenals, testes, stomach, duodenum, bone marrow, spleen and thymus of rats given 11000 mg/kg bw, 17000 mg/kg bw or 25000 mg/kg bw attributable to 1,1,2,2 -tetrachloro-1,2 -difluoroethane.

Conclusions:
According to the reported results, the LoLD of 1,1,2,2,-tetrachloro-1,2 -difluoroethane by oral route is higher than 25000 mg/kg bw.
Executive summary:

The objective of the paper was to compare the toxicological properties of the isomers 1,1,2,2-tetrachloro-1,2-difluoroethane and 1,1,1,2-tetrachloro-2,2-difluoroethane and to this purpose a set of toxicological tests was conducted and discussed.

In order to assess the toxicity by oral route, both the isomers were administered to male rats and the approximate lethal dose ALD (i.e. the lowest dose at which mortality occurs) was determined by the method of Deichmann and LeBlanch. Pathologic examinations were conducted 14 days after the doses were given.

1,1,2,2-tetrachloro-1,2-difluoroethane was administered in the dose-range of 670 – 25000 mg/kg bw.
