Additional information

All mutagenicity studies (Ames tests, in vitro chromosome aberration test, in vivo cytogenetic test) that were reported for several dicarboxylic acids with different lenght chain (dodecanedioic, sebacic and adipic acids) showed negative results. Based on a read across among category members, tetradecanedioic acid is not expected to show genetoxic effects.

Endpoint Conclusion: No adverse effect observed (negative)

Justification for classification or non-classification

Taking into account the negative results of mutagenicity studies, no classification is required for tetradecanedioic acid according to Dangerous Substances Directive DSD (67/548/EC) and CLP regulation (1272/2008/EC).
