Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Adsorption to solid soil phase is not expected.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In soil, the tetrahydrofuran - boron trifluoride complex reacts readily with the moisture to form tetrahydrofuran and boron trifluoride dihydrate. Tetrahydrofuran has a logKow of 0.45, indicating low adsorption potential, also supported by QSAR estimation. Boron trifluoride dihydrate, as well as its further hydrolysis products (e.g. boric acid, fluoroborates), is inorganic and has no cationic properties. Adsorption to the solid soil phase is therefore unlikely for all hydrolysis products.
