General discussion of environmental fate and pathways:
Abiotic degradation
Water: A hydrolysis study was carried out using OECD TG 111 and Method C7 of Commission Directive 92/69/EEC (which constitutes Annex V of Council Directive 67/548/EEC). Based on the results of this study, the half-life time at 25°C is > 1 year for pH 4, 7 and 9. It is concluded that the substance is hydrolytically stable.
Biotic degradation
One ready degradability study in the STP according to OECD310 and one inherent degradation study according to OECD302C are available.
In the ready biodegradation study (OECD 310) TM 09 -217 showed 62% degradation after day 28 but failed to meet the 10 d window criteria, therefore it was not considered to be readily biodegradable under the conditions of this test. In the inherent biodegradation study (OECD 302C) biodegradation of the test substance calculated by BOD was 84.34 % after day 28 and it was considered to be inherently biodegradable.
Transport and distribution
The adsorption coefficient of the test substance was determined according to OECD Test Guideline 121 using the HPLC method. The test substance was determined to have a log10Koc value of 3.4 (equivalent Koc 2600) under the test conditions.
