First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Seek immediate medical attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Irrigate with clean water or isotonic saline for 15 minutes.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Dry powder/foam, carbon dioxide or water spray.

Product arising from burning: The substance is not combustible and will not burn if
involved in a fire. The residue, ash or char left after a
fire may have catalytic properties and may promote the
re-ignition of flammable materials and vapours.

Protective equipment: Full protective equipment and self-contained breathing
apparatus must be worn.

Fight the fire from a safe distance or protected location.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Evacuate personnel from immediate vicinity.


Wear full personal protective equipment including chemical
resistant gloves, goggles and face mask.


Absorb spillages of solutions with a suitable inert material
(eg sand or soil). Carefully transfer the spillage to waste
containers, or use a sealed industrial vacuum machine.
Containers filled with waste material must be labelled in
the same way as the original substance containers.


Clean the spillage area with water and detergent. Collect
waste for recovery at a licensed recycling plant. Do not
wash spillage to drains.


Dispose of waste material in accordance with local
regulations by incineration, or send to a metal recovery
plant.

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance should be stored, handled and used under
conditions of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with
any local regulations in order to avoid exposure by skin,
eye and inhalation exposure.


Engineering controls are necessary to reduce exposure to the
substance.


When exposure cannot be prevented or adequately controlled
appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn.
Such protective equipment should conform to the appropriate
international or national standards as follows;

Chemical protective gloves to Standard prEN374

Chemical protective clothing to Standard EN368

Eye protection to Standard prEN166

Furthermore, when respiratory protective equipment has to be
used, it must be capable of adequately controlling exposure,
be suitable for the purpose, and conform to the appropriate
international standards, such as a dust mask conforming to
EN149 FFP1.

These measures should be regarded as a minimum.

Storage: Store in a dry well ventilated area, away from sources of
ignition.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Discharge to the environment will be minimal. Recovery from
minor discharges or accidental discharge is preferable.
However, such waste material can be disposed of by
incineration or landfill.

Larger spillages of uncontaminated material can be sent for
recovery at a precious metal re-cycling plant.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: No chemical, or environmental treatment is practicable to
neutralise the hazardous health properties.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Contaminated containers or spillages of solutions mixed with
inert material (eg sand or soil) may be disposed of by
landfill at an authorised tip in accordance with local
regulations.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance can be disposed of by incineration by burning
under controlled conditions at a licensed waste treatment
processor in accordance with local regulations. Stack gases
should be scrubbed, because noxious fumes (eg carbon and
nitrogen oxides) could be formed.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance should not normally be discharged directly to
the sewage system or the aqueous environment. However,
adverse effects on sewage treatment systems would be
unlikely.

domain.
