Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: All extinguishing media are suitable (foam, carbon dioxide,

dry agent and water)

Product arising from burning: carbon dioxide

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing

apparatus must be worn. Fight the fire from a safe distance

or protected location.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Evacuate personnel from the immediate vicinity. Wear eye

protection, impervious gloves and protective clothing.

Avoid dust formation

by damping down with water. Adsorb spillages of solutions

with a suitable inert material. Carefully tranfer the

spillage to waste containers, or an approved sealed

industrial vacuum machine. Containers filled with waste

material must be labelled in the same way as the original

D-523 containers.                           Clean the

spillage area with detergent and water.

Dispose of waste material in accordance with local

regulations by landfill or incineration, as specified in

section A 6.1.3 .

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance should be stored , handled and used  under

conditions of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with

the local regulations in order to avoid exposure by

ingestion, skin and eye contact. Engineering controls are

necessary to reduce exposure to the substance e.g. local

ventilation. When exposure cannot be prevented or adquately

controlled other than by the use of personal protective

equipment, wear eye protection (goggles), impervious gloves

and protective clothing.              Furthermore, when

respiratory protective equipment has to be used, it must be

capable of adequately controlled exposure, be suitable for

the purpose, and conform to the appropiate international

standards. A dust mask and filter conforming to EN149 FFPI

is recommended.

Storage: In sealed containers at room temperature.            Keep

containers tightly closed when not in use.
