First-aid measures

Special instructions: Helpers should ensure their own protection.

Inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. If appropriate, give artificial respiration or oxygen. Get medical advice/attention.

Skin contact: Remove/Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. IF ON SKIN: Wash with soap and water. If skin irritation occurs: Get medical advice/attention.

Eye contact: IF IN EYES: Rinse continuously with water for several minutes. Get medical advice/attention.

Ingestion: Do NOT induce vomiting. Rinse mouth. Get immediate medical advice/attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media: Foam, powder or carbon dioxide

Unsuitable extinguishing media: Water

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

May emit toxic fumes of oxides of carbon and nitrogen during heating or fire.

May emit very toxic cyanide during heating or fire.

Advice for fire-fighters

Special protective equipment for fire-fighters: Isolating breathing apparatus eg. compressed breathing apparatus and protective clothing.

Other instructions

Cool fire exposed containers with water jet.

The vapour is heavier than air and spreads along the ground, therefore remote ignition is possible.

The substance is floating and can be reignited on the water surface.

Accidental release measures

Use personal protective equipment as required.

Absorb with inert material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid sorbent, universal sorbent).

Collect spillage in a closed container.

Dispose as in 'Disposal considerations'.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 17(3) for on-site isolated intermediates

All exposure must be avoided.

In those situations where exposure is possible:

Handle in well-ventilated space.

Avoid breathing dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/spray.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Keep container tightly closed.

Keep away from heat/sparks/open flames/hot surfaces - No smoking.

Protect from sunlight.

Store in flammable substance storage.
