Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Degradation rate constants and half-lifes have been calculated with Aopwin.
In the atmosphere the substance is likely to be degraded by reaction with hydroxyl radicals. The degradation rate was calculated with the Atmospheric Oxidation Program based on structure activity relationships developed by Atkinson (1987). With a concentration of 500,000 OH-radicals/cm3, a degradation half-live of 2.2 h was calculated for nonylphenol ethoxylate, sarcosine derivative. This corresponds to an overall OH rate rate constant of 174 * 10 ^-12 cm3 / molecule sec.
Because there are no important releases into the atmosphere and volatilisation is expected to be limited, this removal mechanism is thought to be of low relevance.
