First-aid measures
As a first responder make sure your are properly protected!
Symptoms and effects may include: headhaches, nausea, vomiting, apsychia, shallow accelerated respiration, dry skin.
Inhalation: if inhaled, remove victim to fresh air, immediately get medical aid.
Skin contact: Flusk skin with soap and plenty of water, remove contaminated clothing.
Eye contact: In case of contact, flush eyes with running water, and consult an eye specialist.
Ingestion: if swallowed, rinse mouth. Do not induce vomiting but get medical aid.
Fire-fighting measures
CO2, regular foam, powder (BC and ABC powder), water fog or spray. Do notapply water jet for fire fighting measures.
Special hazards inherent in the substance or its combustion products or other gaseous products:
Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide or isobutylene may evolve. Explosive mixtures may form with air. The substance floats on water surfaces where it may get ignited. Vapours are heavier than air and can flow along surfaces to distant ignition source and flash back.
Special protective equipment required for fire fighting:
Wear protective suit and self-contained respiratory equipment.
Accidental release measures
Evacuate area concerned.
Avoid eye or skin contacts. Provide ventilation to rooms concerned. Do not inhale vapours. Extinguish open flames. Remove all sources of ignition. Keep away from sparks and/or use a spark-proof tool. Do not smoke. Close leaks only possible without exposing yourself to a danger.
Environmental protection measures:
Do not flush to surface waters and/or sewer. Use barriers made from sand or earth to prevent product from getting into soil.
Procedure for cleaning/collectin:
Always use personal protective gear. Take up small amounts with liquid absorbing material and place in a sealed container for safe disposal. Transfer leaking containers into a salvage drum. Take up large amounts with a vacuum cleaner and place them in a sealed and labelled container for transfer to a special waste disposal facility.
Additional instructions:
Danger of explosion! Immediately inform fire brigade and/or water authorities of any liquid flushed to sewer. Vapours may form explosive mixtures with air. Adhere to local diposal rules.
Handling and storage
Avoid prolonged or repeated skin contacts. Avoid breathing vapours. Extinguish all open flames. Remove all sources of ignition, and keep away from sparks. Take anti-static measures.
Storage:
Store rooms and containers.
Store in sealed containers in a cool (at <20°C) and dry place. DANGER! Improper storage may lead to overpressurising. Always keep away from direct sunlight and exposure to other sources of heat and/or ignition.

Pouring into another container:
Make sure all equipment is earthed. Prevent product from getting into contact with air (peroxides may form!). Always use closed-cycle systems.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Make use of mechanically tight equipment and closed-cycle filling & transfer systems. Only use in well ventilated areas.
Personal protective equipement:
Clothing: If vapours and/or aerosols might be present wear a gas-tight and solvent-resistant protective suit.
Hand guard: Multi-layer safety gloves (PE/EVAL/PE) may be used (breakthrough time: 8 hours)
Eye protection: Adequate eye protectors should be worn. If liquid can come into contact with eyes, chemical safety goggles and/or face protector must used.
Respirators: Required if vapours/aerosols are released.
Gas filters: AX, ID-colour: brown.
In case of concentrations higher than filter unit application limits, oxygen concentrations lower than 17% or otherwise unknown conditions, a self-contained respiratory equipment will be required.
General safety and hygiene measures:
Preventive skin protection is recommended. Wash your hands after finishing your work. Change contaminated clothing.
Stability and reactivity
Incompatible substances: incompatible with acids, bases, reducing/oxidizing agents, water.
Hazardous decomposition and/or reaction products: isobutene, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide.
Other information: Di-tert-butyl dicarbonate will hydrolyse in the presence of water to form ter-butanol and carbon dioxide.
Disposal considerations
Waste disposal: recommendation: incineration in an officially approved destructor with flue gaz treatment.
Waste description: other organic solvents, scouring solutions, mother liquors.
NON-CLEANING PACKAGINGS:
Containers should be completely emptied, and then aerated in a safe location, out of reach of sparks or other sources of ignition. Recycle containers to reconditionning or other treatment. If appropriate, have them incinerated in an authorized, legally approved destructor. Observe local requirements. Non-cleaned containers should not be perforated, cut to pieces or welded.
