Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Inhalation: Move the person away from the contaminated area. Make the affected person rest. Obtain medical attention.
Skin Contact: Remove all contaminated clothing and footwear. Wash with soap and water. Wash immediately and thoroughly for a prolonged period (at least 15 minutes).
Eye contact: Immediately rinse with plenty of running water for a prolonged period (at least 15 minutes) whilst keeping the eyes wide open. Always obtain medical advice immediately, even if there are no symptoms.
Ingestion: Never attempt to induce vomiting. Do not give anything to drink.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media: Water, foam, powders, CO2, sand
Non-suitable extinguishing media: None known
Specific fire flighting methods: Do not breathe fumes. Cool down the containers/equipment exposed to heat with a water spray.
Protection of fire-fighters: Complete protective clothing. Self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
Accidental release measures
Personal Precautions: Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Do not breathe fumes. Prevent the product from spreading into the environment. Do not attempt to take action without suitable protective equipment. Stop the leak, and if possible, avoid any contact with skin and clothing.
Environmental Precautions: Contain the spilled material by bunding (product is hazardous for the environment). Prevent the product from spreading into the environment..
Methods for clean up - large amounts: Pump up the product into a spare container, suitably labelled and acid resistant. Keep the recovered product for subssequent disposal.
Methods for clean-up - small amounts: Absorb with sand. Collect up the spilled product and place it in a spare container, suitably labelled and acid resistant. Keep the recovered product for subssequent disposal.
Handling and storage
Techical measures: Acid resistant floor. Only use materials resistant to acids. Vapour extraction at source. Avoid contact with metals, hot-surfaces. The floor of the depot should be impermeable and designed to form a water-tight basin.
Store away from incompatible materials, in a cool, well-ventilated area. Keep the container tightly closed. Incompatible materials include alkalis and caustic products, oxidising agents and materials.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Engineering measures: Local exhaust ventilation, avoid splashes.
Respiratory protection: If ventilation is suitable, it is not essential to wear respiratory equipment. If respiratory protection is neccessary use SCBA.
Hand protection: Acid-resistant protective gloves
Eye protection: Safety spectacles and a face shield.
Skin and body protection: Impermeable suit and boots. Wear suitable protectice clothing, gloves and eye/face protection.
Stability and reactivity
Stability: Stable at ambient temperature and under normal conditions of use.
Conditions to avoid: Decomposes above 150 °C
Materials to avoid: Substance is a fairly strong acid. Reacts with bases with the release of heat. Reacts with oxidizing materials. Reacts with water and aqueous solutions.
Hazardous decomposition products: On combustion or on thermal decomposition releases toxic and corrosive vapours.
Disposal considerations
Residues from Product
Do not dispose of with domestic waste and do not allow substance to be released into the environment. Dispose of in accordance with relevant local regulations.
Contaminated packaging
Do not dispose of with domestic waste. Wash with water, allow it to drain thoroughly. Decant and separate out the organic phaseand treat. Neutralize contaminated cleaning water prior to disposal.
