Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Uronium hydrogen sulphate is of low acute toxicity to aquatic invertebrates.
Uronium hydrogen sulphate readily degrades to urea and sulfuric acid and/or sulfate ions in the environment and these degradation products are considered in the assessment:
- Urea is of low toxicity to Daphnia (24h EC50 >10000 mg/l) and freshwater snails (24h LC50 >10000 mg/l for eggs, juveniles and adults)
- The 48 h LC50 for calcium sulfate dihydrate was found to be >100 mg/L, which is equivalent to >79 mg/L for calcium sulfate anhydrous. No mortalities or adverse effects were noted at this concentration.
It can be concluded that Uronium hydrogen sulphate and its degradation products are not acutely toxic to aquatic invertebrates.
