Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

The DSC for t-BuONO shows an exothermic reaction (double peak) from 146 ° C at 1132 J / g, and further exothermic reactions from 334 ° C (possibly earlier) with 1450 J / g. Isoperibole Measurements: Several exothermic reactions with autocatalytic behavior.
In the impact hammer with and without aluminum foil (5 kg / 1 m) no impact sensitivity was found. A detonation test (ignition of a detonator in 100 ml of tert-butyl nitrite in a plastic bottle) was negative.
A DSC of tert-butyl nitrite after contact with a V4A plate during 4 h at room temperature showed no abnormalities compared to untreated tert-butyl nitrite.
A DSC from an about half a year old tert-butyl nitrite pattern showed no abnormalities compared to fresh tert-butyl nitrite.
