Title: Acute Toxicity Studies with l,12-Dodecanediamine (DDA)

Dermal Sensitization: Ten Duncan-Hartley guinea pigs were injected (0.1 mL) ID
with a 1% solution of DDA in saline once a week for 4 weeks. Two weeks after
the last injection, the animals were challenged by topical application with 0.4%
and 4% DDA. Dermal responses were scored (1) at 24 and 48 hours after
challenge. DDA produced a sensitization response in 7/10 animals at a
concentration of 4%. No sensitization response was observed at 0.4%.
Assessment of literature data:
For the challenge dose with 4% DDA a pH of ca. 11.9 can be assumed based on general formula on acid-base-chemistry.
Therefore it can be assumed that topical application can also lead to irritation based on the basic nature of the solution.
As there are no results for control animals reported and the lower challenge dose did not result in any reported effects,
the reported effects cannot be related to sensitive properties clearly.

Justification for classification or non-classification
The substance is classified as skin corrosive and the cited study information on skin sensitisation is not conclusive.
Based on the corrosivity, it is concluded that the information is conclusive but not sufficient for classifiaction as skin sensitisation.
