Details on test solutions:
PREPARATION AND APPLICATION OF TEST SOLUTION (especially for difficult test substances)
- Method: a stock solution of 10000 mg/L was prepared for dilution using borehole water
- Evidence of undissolved material: minute black particulate matter was observed in the stock solution prior to the start of the preliminary test
Test organisms (species):

ACCLIMATION
- Type and amount of food: unicellular green alga (Chlorelle) and yeast ("Allinsons" dried baking yeast)
- Feeding frequency: daily

METHOD FOR PREPARATION AND COLLECTION OF EARLY INSTARS OR OTHER LIFE STAGES:
Gravid female Daphnia were removed from culture before the start of the test and placed in borehole water at approx. 20°C. Juveniles were removd each day. On the day of the test less than 24h old juvenile Daphnia were separated from the females by careful pipetting.

Additional information

The toxicity of test item on Daphnia magna was determined in a GLP study according to OECD 202. Individuals of D. magna were exposed to 0 (control), 180, 560, 1000 and 1800 mg/L of the test substance in chalk borehole water, equivalent to geometric mean measured concentrations of <LOQ, not analysed, 546, not analysed and 1738 mg/L after 48 h. No immobility or mortality of D. magna was observed after 48 h at 1800 mg/L. The 48 h EC50 value of >1800 mg/L (nominal) was concluded.
