Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2017 to 2018
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 202 (Daphnia sp. Acute Immobilisation Test)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes
Analytical monitoring:
yes
Details on sampling:
Samples of the test media were taken before initiation, before and after the test medium renewal and at termination. In the definitive test, the replicate test and control vessels were pooled.
Vehicle:
no
Test organisms (species):
Daphnia magna
Details on test organisms:
In-house cultures orginially supplied by the University of Sheffield/UK. Single housed in 150 mL glass beakers containing ELendt M7 medium.
Test type:
semi-static
Water media type:
freshwater
Limit test:
yes
Total exposure duration:
48 h
Test temperature:
18 to 22 +/-1°C
Nominal and measured concentrations:
Control and 100%v/v
Key result
Duration:
48 h
Dose descriptor:
EC50
Effect conc.:
> 0.015 mg/L
Nominal / measured:
meas. (geom. mean)
Conc. based on:
test mat. (dissolved fraction)
Basis for effect:
mobility
Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
An OECD 202 Guideline study was conducted with 1,1'-[ethane-1,2-diylbis(thio)]bisbenzene as a Limit Test. There was no mortality and the reported EC50 value is greater than the highest concentration tested at 100% v/v which resulted in a geometric mean mesured concentration of 0.0152 mg/L.
Executive summary:

An OECD 202 guideline study was conducted with Daphnia magna exposed to the test material. Due to preliminary findings, the definitive study was conducted as at Limit Test at 100% v.v due to limited solubility. The reported EC50 value was greater than the highest concentration at 0.0152 mg/L based on the geometric mean measured values.
