Conclusion on classification

Aquatic acute toxicity

48h, EC50 (Daphnia magna): > 220 mg/L

72h, EC50 (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata): > 100 mg/L

Aquatic chronic toxicity

72h, NOEC (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata): 100 mg/L

Biodegradation: readily biodegradable (76 - 82% ThOD biodegradation was reached within 14 days for the source substance glycine, CAS 56-40-6)

Partition coefficient: log Pow -3.21 at 25 °C

Classification according to CLP

The available experimental test data are reliable and suitable for classification purposes under Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008. The test substance was found to be readily biodegradable under the test conditions. The most sensitive test for the aquatic compartment was the toxicity test to algae. This study revealed a 72h NOEC of 100 mg/L. The 72h EC50 for algae was determined to be > 100 mg/L and the 48-h EC50 for aquatic invertebrates was determined to be > 220 mg/L. Based on these results, the substance is not classified for aquatic acute toxicity or for aquatic chronic toxicity according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP) as amended for the tenth time in Commission Regulation (EU) 2017/776.
