Link to relevant study record(s)
- Endpoint:
- vapour pressure
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- Experimental dates: 05 to 07 January 2018
- Reliability:
- 2 (reliable with restrictions)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- guideline study with acceptable restrictions
- Remarks:
- The study was conducted according to an internationally recognized method, and under GLP. No deviation was reported. The test substance is adequately characterised. Validation applies with restrictions, as the result is a limit value, due to technical limitations, and not a definitive figure.
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- OECD Guideline 104 (Vapour Pressure Curve)
- Version / remarks:
- 2006
- Deviations:
- no
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- EU Method A.4 (Vapour Pressure)
- Version / remarks:
- Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, as modified by Reg.(EC) No 761/2009,
- Deviations:
- no
- GLP compliance:
- yes (incl. QA statement)
- Remarks:
- Inspection 20-21 June 2017, signed on 04 September 2017
- Type of method:
- effusion method: Knudsen cell
- Specific details on test material used for the study:
- Storage conditions: Ambient temperature (10 °C to 30 °C) in original glass bottle.
The test item was tested as received. No further preliminary treatment such as drying or milling was performed. - Key result
- Temp.:
- 20 °C
- Vapour pressure:
- < 0.001 Pa
- Remarks on result:
- not determinable because of methodological limitations
- Conclusions:
- Very low volatility (based on volatility bands criteria for occupational exposure (Chesar / ECETOC TRA), < 0.01 Pa).
- Executive summary:
The vapour pressure of the test substance was measured under GLP according to OECD 104 / EU A4 guideline, effusion method, with the Knudsen cell.
Ten measurements were recorded between 20 and 100°C. Except for the highest, all results were below the applicability range of the apparatus.
The vapour pressure at 20°C was therefore stated according to this limit value, i.e. below 10 -5 hPa, due to technical limitations.
Reference
The measured vapour pressures at the corresponding temperatures are listed in the table below. After the measurement a mass loss of < 1 % (w/w) was determined.

n.e.: not evaluable
The vapour pressures measured between 20 °C and 90 °C were below the recommended lower limit of 10-5 hPa of the application range, and the measured vapour pressure at 100 °C was only slightly above this limit.
Description of key information
Very low volatility (< 0.001 Pa at 20°C).
Key value for chemical safety assessment
Additional information
A reliable experimental study, conducted according to a recognized OECD/EC method and under GLP, is available. Despite restrictions for technical limitations, it is considered as a key study. As a limit value, the result cannot be retained as key data (no < sign allowed).
