- Executive summary:
A study according to Directive 92/69/EEC A.14 and OPPTS Test Guideline 830.6316 was performed to determine the explosive properties of the test substance. Thermal sensitivity following Koenen steel tube test, and shock test were performed. In the shock test, a weight of 10 kg from a height of 40 cm was dropped onto the assembly containig 40 mm3 of the test item, six times. no ignition or explosion were observed during the six test. In the Koenen steel tube test, a steel tube was filled to a height of 60 mm with the test item and weighted. The tube was heated by four propane burners. Three tests were performed with a 6 mm orifice plate and three test with a 2 mm orifice plate. no explosion was observed in all six test. Based on the results from both test series was determined that MCPP-P 2-EHE has no explosive properties.
Reference
Shock test:
The test material was passed through a 500 µm sieve. A 10 kg weight was dropped from a height of 40 cm, onto the test assembly containing 40 mm3 of the test material. The test was repeated six times. As no test was positive, the six other tests with a weight of 5 kg dropped from a height of 15 cm were not performed.

MECOPROP-P 2-Ethylhexyl ester has been determined not to have shock sensibility to explosion.
Koenen steel tube test (thermal sensitivity):
The test material was tested as received. Steel tubes were filled to a height of 60 mm. The filled test item was weighted. The tube was heated by four propane burners. Three tests with a 6 mm orifice plate and three tests with a 2 mm orifice plate were performed.
