With high probability acutely not harmful to fish

Experimental data on the acute toxicity to fish are not available for 3,3'-(methylimino)bispropiononitrile (CAS 1555 -58 -4). Therefore, the acute toxicity to fish was assessed using several QSAR models.
The QSAR Toolbox v3.4.0.17 was used to derive two LC50 values by trend analysis. The substance is within the applicability domain of these valid and reliable (RL 2) models (BASF SE, 2016). The models use different aquatic toxicity databases and category definitions via functional groups.
The 96 -h LC50 was 176 and 120 mg/L.
The acute toxicity was also estimated by ECOSAR v1.11 (US EPA, 2012). The substance was assigned to two ECOSAR classes: Aliphatic amines and Polyaliphatic nitriles. The substance is within the applicability domain of both chemical classes. The LC50 was calculated to be 2235 mg/L as aliphatic amine and 16420 mg/L as polyaliphatic nitrile (BASF SE, 2016).
T.E.S.T. v4.2.1 (US EPA, 2016) was used to calculate the LC50 with the consenus method (BASF SE, 2016). The substance is within the applicability domain of the model; however, based on the mean average error, the confidence in the result may be low. The LC50 was calculated to 164 mg/L.
In a weight-of-evidence approach, it can be concluded that all the results are valid and within the applicability domain of the models. The LC50s are all within the same acute aquatc toxicity classification band of > 100 mg/L. Therefore, the substance is assessed to be with high probability to be acutely not harmful to fish.
