Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Acute toxicity

Some data regarding short-term toxicity to fish, Daphnia magna, algae and aquatic plants are reported in ECOTOX, EPA for Sulfadimidine.

All data are reported in the specific summaries and in this generic summary only the lowest values are indicated:

- LC50 Oryzias latipes for Sulfadimidine 96h > 100 mg/l

- EC50 Daphnia magna 48h for Sulfadimidine = 31.4 mg/l

- IC50 Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata 72h for Sulfadimidine = 8.7 mg/l

Based on these values of short term toxicity to aquatic species no classification is proposed for acute aquatic toxicity of Sulfadimidine according to the CLP Regulation (EC n.1272/2008).

Chronic toxicity

A study regarding long-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates is reported in database ECOTOX, EPA for Sulfadimidine CAS 57-68-1 with reference to De Liguoro, Chemosphere75(11): 1519-1524,2008: NOEC Daphnia magna 21days = 1.563 mg/l

Based on this data of long-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates (NOEL = 1.563 mg/l) and considering that the substance is predicted not ready biodegradable, no classification for chronic aquatic toxicity is proposed for Sulfadimidine. Note: NOECs regarding algae and aquatic plant have got limit values: NOEC Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata 72 h = 1 mg/l and NOEC (growth rate) Lemna gibba 7d= 1 mg/l but based also on data of long term toxicity to Daphnia no classification is proposed for Sulfadimidine.
