Description of key information

Following an expert assessment of the test material, it was determined that it is not likely to possess oxidising properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
no

Additional information

A structural examination of the test material was carried out in accordance with the ‘Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment – Chapter R.7a: Endpoint Specific Guidance’ to assess its oxidising potential. The assessment of the structural properties of the test material was awarded a reliability score of 2 in accordance with the criteria set forth by Klimisch et al (1997).

A substance may have oxidising properties when the electronegative atoms which are present constitute a high proportion of the molecule and are bound to elements in a high oxidation state or the electronegative atoms are bonded to each other or to other electronegative elements such as iodine, nitrogen, sulphur or phosphorus.

The test material has no structural alerts for oxidising potential, nor is the oxygen balance indicative of the test material being potentially oxidising.

The lack of structural alerts and the oxygen balance (-102.41) indicates that there is no concern for oxidising properties associated with this substance.

Justification for classification or non-classification

In accordance with the criteria for classification as defined in Annex I, Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008, the substance does not require classification with respect to oxidising properties.
