According to Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex IX, Column 2, 9.1.6, the testing of the long-term to fish is not required. The substance Glyceryl undecylenate (CAS 123759-97-7) is readily biodegradable and poorly soluble substance (8.5 - 182.5 µg/L at 20 °C, pH=6.3). Due to these characteristics, extensive elimination of the substance in conventional STPs can be expected. Therefore, only low concentrations, if any, are likely to be released into the water phase. Moreover, rapid metabolization of the substance in aquatic organisms is expected. Enzymatic hydrolysis is expected to result in fatty acids and glycerol as transformation products. Part of the free fatty acids will be re-esterified with glycerol and partial acyl glycerols to form triglycerides that will be stored as long-term energy reserves (Tocher, 2003). Exposure of aquatic organisms like fish to substance is thus expected to be low. Read across data on short-term toxicity to fish and aquatic invertebrates showed effects above the water solubility of the analogue substance. Effects on growth rate were reported in the read across study conducted with algae may be based on physical effects of the substance (due to disturbance of algae cells by emulsified test substance).

A long-term toxicity study on Daphnia conducted with the source substance Glycerides,C14-18 and C16-18 unsaturated, mono-, di- and tri- (CAS 91052-28-7) provides further evidence of a lack of chronic toxicity. In a study following OECD 211 a NOELR (21 d) ≥ 10 mg/L (nominal, loading rate) was determined (Salinas, 2013).

Thus, based on the available information, chronic toxicity of the substance to fish is not anticipated and further testing was thus omitted.
