Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
If inhaled:
Remove from exposure. Oxygen or artificial respiration if needed. If symptoms persist, call a physician.
In case of skin contact:
Take off all contaminated clothing immediately. Wash off with soap and plenty of water. If symptoms persist, call a physician.
In case of eye contact:
Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water, also under the eyelids. If easy to do, remove contact lens, if worn. If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist.
If swallowed:
Do NOT induce vomiting. Rinse mouth with water. Call a physician immediately.
Symptoms:
Aspiration may cause pulmonary oedema and pneumonitis.
Treatment:
There is no specific antidote available. Treat symptomatically.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media:
Dry powder, carbon dioxide, foam and water mist.
Unsuitable extinguishing media:
Water spray jet
Specific hazards during firefighting:
Hazardous combustion products: Carbon monoxide, Carbon dioxide (CO2)
Special protective equipment for firefighters:
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit.
Further information:
Use water spray to cool unopened containers.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions:
Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Use personal protective equipment. Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas.
Environmental precautions:
Prevent product from entering environment and drains. If major spillage occurs, contact the proper local authorities.
Methods for cleaning up:
Contain spillage, soak up with non-combustible absorbent material, (e.g. sand, earth, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite) and transfer to a container for disposal according to local / national regulations.
Collect mechanically and dispose in suitable container for disposal. After cleaning, flush away traces with water.
Ventilate the area.
Handling and storage
This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 17(3) for on-site isolated intermediates and 18(4) for transported intermediates. Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each site.
Written confirmation of application of Strictly Controlled Conditions has been received from every affected distributor and downstream user of the registrant's intermediate.
Advice on safe handling:
Keep away from food, drink and animal feedingstuffs. When using do not eat, drink or smoke.
Take off contaminated clothing and wash before reuse.
Advice on protection against fire and explosion:
Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition
Requirements for storage areas and containers:
Keep containers tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place.
Further information on storage conditions:
Store at room temperature. Keep in a dry place.
