Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The surface tension of Mexoryl SCK in water (at a concentration of about 1 g/L) was determined to be 48.5 mN/m at 19.8 °C.
The substance is considered as a surface-active substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One GLP study was performed in order to determine the surface tension of an aqueous solution of MEXORYL SCK (also called MEXORYL SBT) according to OECD 115 and EU method A.5, using the ring method.

The surface tension of Mexoryl SCK in water (at a concentration of about 1 g/L) was determined to be 48.5 mN/m at 19.8 °C.

Based on the criteria as outlined in the EC Guideline (a substance is considered as surface active if surface tension < 60mN/m in the conditions of the method) and the results of this study, Mexoryl SCK has to be considered as a surface active substance.
