Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
Additional information
The environmental fate and behaviour of the registered substance was determined via endpoint testing for hydrolysis, biodegradation and the adsorption/desorption coefficient. The soil adsorption coefficient of the registered substance was determined according to the OECD 121 Guideline. The Log Koc of the reaction mass was found to be <be less than 17.8, log10Koc < 1.25 at pH 7.0. These values indicate that the anionic, 6-[(p-tosyl)amino] hexanoic acid component will have a very high mobility. A Low logKow (<0) indicates a low potential for bioaccumulation and therefore further animal testing is considered unjustified. The substance showed a good potential to biodegrade with an OECD 301D study ( 66% at 3.5 mg/L and 69% at 5.5 mg/Lafter 60 days) and inherently biodegradable with an OECD 306 and a Marine Bodis Study (ca. 40% 28 after days and ca 54% after 63%) . However, the OECD 306 and the Marine Bodis uses natural occurring bacteria in seawater as inoculum which reduces the chance to have competent degraders in the test bottle. Therefore, the difference in results among ready biodegradability between tests is probably due to differences in inoculum concentrations rather than the substance potential to biodegrade.
A study was conducted on a similar substance (Triethanolamine salt of 6-[(p-tosyl)amino]hexanoic acid) which has the same tosyl acid and sulphonamide bond as the registered substance. No evidence of hydrolysis was evident during testing using a test method equivalent to OECD test method 111.
