Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

An adverse effect of the test substance sodium molybdate dihydrate, expressed as a 10 % reduction of the turbidity of Pseudomonas putida NCTC 10936T compared to the controls, was observed at a concentration of 50 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
50 mg/L

Additional information

A study was performed according to the recommendations of the Umweltbundesamt (UBA) document LTWS No. 10 from September 1979 and in compliance with GLP. An adverse effect of the test substance sodium molybdate dihydrate, expressed as a 10 % reduction of the turbidity of Pseudomonas putida NCTC 10936T compared to the controls, was observed at a concentration of 50 mg/L. Available data from sodium molybdate dihydrate are appropriate to be used for the read-across approach. Due to lower transformation/dissolution properties for dimolybdenum carbide compared to sodium molybdate dihydrate the resulting toxicity is also expected to be lower. Hence, the read across to the substance sodium molybdate dihydrate is sufficiently protective.
