The 48-h EC50 is > 100 mg/L in aquatic invertebrates (D. magna).

The short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates was determined in a study according to OECD guideline No 202 and in compliance with GLP criteria (BASF, 2007).

The test was performed as limit test using the saturated solution of the substance as single concentration. Groups of 20 dapnids (D. magna; 4 replicates of 5 animals) were exposed to nominal loading rates of 0 (control) and 100 mg/L for 48 hours under static conditions. Test concentrations were not analytically verified because the water solubility of the test substance is lower than the limit of quantification (0.018 mg/L). During the exposure period undissolved test substance was visible at the bottom of the test vessels and at the water surface but this is not considered to have influenced the results. Observations for swimming ability (mobility) were made at 0, 24 and 48 h after the start of exposure. Throughout the test no signs of altered mobility were noted at the limit concentration of 100 mg/L i.e. up to the solubility limit of the test substance in water. Based on these findings the 48 -h EC50 value was determined at >100 mg/L.
