Additional information
Aquatic toxicity:
Short-term toxicity to fish:
A study on rainbow trout resulted in 96 -hour LC50 value of 0.0051 mg/L and NOEC value of 0.0025 mg/L (Collins, 1992).
Short-term toxicity to daphnia:
A study on Daphnia magna resulted in 48 -hour EC50 value of 0.0001 mg/L and NOEC value of 0.000025 mg/L (Collins, 1992).
Toxicity to aquatic algae:
One algae study resulted in 96 -hour NOEC value of 0.026 mg/L (Giddings, 1992).
Toxicity to microorganisms:
A microbial growth inhibition study on five strains resulted a series of MIC values ranged from 40 to 800 mg/L (Smith, 1992).
Terrestrial toxicity:
Toxicity to soil macroorganisms:
A study on Earthworms resulted in NOEC value of 0.89 mg/kg soil dw (Boeri, 2002).
Conclusion on classification
All aquatic LC50s (or EC50s) < 1 mg/L (actual values: fish 96h LC50=0.0051 mg/L; daphnia 48h EC50=0.0001 mg/L).
No chronic toxicity data available; substance is not readily biodegradable.
Therefore in accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 286/2011 (as amended by Regulation (EC) No. 286/2011) Table 4.1.0, this substance should be classified as Acute category 1 and Chronic category 1. R50/53 under Directive 67/548/EEC is warranted.
