Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
Between 20 May 2012 and 04 October 2012.
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Remarks:
Study conducted in compliance with agreed protocols, with no or minor deviations from standard test guidelines and/or minor methodological deficiencies, which do not affect the quality of the relevant results. The study report was conclusive, done to a valid guideline and the study was conducted under GLP conditions, however no formal claim of GLP compliance was made.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids)
Version / remarks:
30 May 2008
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
no
Key result
Remarks on result:
no self ignition observed under the test conditions
Remarks:
The test item has been determined not to have a relative self-ignition temperature below 400°C

Results

The test item was a white granular solid. Whilst heating the test item, a sharp rise in the temperature of the sample, with a peak at an oven temperature of approximately 115°C was registered on the temperature curve (see attached temperature curve). This indicates self-heating but it is not regarded as self-ignition as the temperature of the peak was below 400°C. On completion of the test, the cube was empty and a dark brown solid was observed on the base of the cube stand.

Conclusions:
ATMP-N-Oxide-H has been determined not to have a relative self-ignition temperature below 400°C. The result is considered to be reliable.
Executive summary:

Testing was conducted using a procedure designed to be compatible with Method A16 Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008.

Conclusion

The test item has been determined not to have a relative self-ignition temperature below 400°C.

Description of key information

Relative self-ignition temperature [ATMP-N-Oxide-H)]: No evidence of relative self-ignition observed below the 400°C (Atwal, 2012). Self-heating occurred at approximately 115˚C, but is not regarded as self-ignition. This result is read across to the registration substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The relative self-ignition temperature of the parent acid, ATMP-N-Oxide-H was attempted in accordance with a relevant test method. Under the conditions of the study, no relative self-ignition below 400˚C was observed for ATMP-N-Oxide-H. Self-heating occurred at approximately 115˚C, but this is not regarded as self-ignition (Atwal, 2012). This result is read-across to ATMP-N-Oxide-5K.
