According to the REACH Regulation, the study does not need to be conducted if based on the physchem properties the substance can be expected to have a low potential for adsorption (Annex VIII, Column 2 adaptation). Potassium hydroxide is very soluble in water and dissociates completely to K+ and OH-. If emitted to surface water, sorption to particulate matter and sediment will be negligible.
