Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

D-Glucopyranose, oligomers, decyl octyl glycosides (CAS: 68515-73-1) is biodegradable in a continuously operated test system simulating the activated sludge process according to OECD criteria (> 99.4% after 28 days) confirmed with a category member

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One confirmatory study investigating the biodegradability of the category member D-Glucopyranose, oligomeric, C10-16-alkyl glycosides (CAS: 110615-47-9) in a simulation test is available (Stelter, 1994a). The test, comparable to OECD Guideline 303A "Simulation Test - Aerobic Sewage Treatment - A: Activated Sludge Units", was conducted utilising domestic non-adapted activated sludge. The test substance degraded to >99.4% after 28 days based on the DOC. Conclusively, the test substance is biodegradable in a continuously operated test system simulating the activated sludge process under conditions tested according to OECD criteria. Based on the category approach the category member D-Glucopyranose, oligomers, decyl octyl glycosides (CAS: 68515-73-1) will be biodegradable in simulation testing as well.
