Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Additional information

Phototransformation in air:

When exposed to air, the substance will be slowly degraded by photochemical processes.

Hydrolysis:

In contact with water the substance will hydrolyse slowly.

Formamide hydrolyses slowly in water at ambient temperatures. However, the degradation rate is accelerated significantly with an increase in temperature and under alkaline or acidic conditions.

Biodegradation in water:

Readily biodegradable (according to OECD criteria): 99% biodegradation related to DOC removal in the DOC Die-away test following OECD 301A.

Bioaccumulation

Accumulation in organisms is not to be expected

The measured log Pow of -0.82 (25 °C) and the calculated BCF of 3.2 do not indicate a potential for bioaccumulation.

Adsorption / desorption:

Adsorption to the solid soil phase is not expected.

A calculated log Koc of 0.93 (Koc = 8.5) indicates that adsorption to soil is not to be expected.

Henry's law constant:

From the water surface the substance will not evaporate into the atmosphere.

A Henry's law constant of 0.000141 Pa*m³/mol was calculated and hence indicates no potential for volatilization from water surfaces.
