Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
Additional information
Appearance / physical state / colour
The substance is a clear and colourless liquid (BASF, 2002).
Melting point / freezing point
The melting point determined by capillary method was -28.6 ºC and -18.4 ºC in two independent measurements.
Boiling point
Boiling point was investigated using the EU method A2 (in line with OECD 103). The test item showed a defined decomposition temperature with volatile components forming bubbles and the residue darkening. Therefore, the detected "boiling point" of 243 ºC (516 K) should be stated as "decomposition temperature"..
Density
The relative density is 1.05 at 20° C.
Particle size distribution (Granulometry)
Waiving:
In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII, the study does not need to be conducted as the substance is marketed or used in a non solid or granular form.
Vapour pressure
The vapour pressure is 0.00179 Pa at 20°C.
Partition coefficient
The structure-fragment calculation method indicates a log Pow range of 0.01 to 1.50 for components of this UVCB mixture. The upper limit value of log Pow = 1.50 is used to conservatively represent partitioning of the components of this UVCB substance in the chemical safety assessment.
Water solubility
Water solubility was 100 g/L at 20 °C.
Surface tension
Surface tension (at 0.1% and 20 °C) 56.92 mN/m.
Flash point
Flashpoint: 184 °C.
Auto flammability
Autoflammability was investigated using the EU method A.15. The autoignition temperature was determined as 325 °C.
Flammability
Waived: Non-flammable in contact with water or damp air.
Explosiveness
In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII, the study does not need to be conducted, as the substance does not contain a chemical moiety suggesting a potential for explosivity.
Oxidising properties
In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII, the study does not need to be conducted, as the substance does not contain a chemical moiety suggesting an oxidising potential.
Stability in organic solvents and identity of relevant degradation products,
Data waiving:
According to Column 1 of Annex IX (EU REACH), testing is only required if the stability of the substance is considered to be critical. The guidance defines potentially critical as: (i) for solubility measurement (e.g. for octanol water distribution), (ii) for fortification or calibration standards, (iii) for dosing using a solvent in ecotoxicity studies, and (iv) for sample preparation in for analytical verification or monitoring programs. None of the above applies to the substance. Therefore testing of stability in organic solvents is deemed scientifically unjustified.
Dissociation constant
Predicted values of pKa for lowest- and highest-molecular weight homologues of this UVCB mixture range from 14.0 to 15.3. Therefore, the components are expected to occur as fully- or partly-ionized species in the environment.
Viscosity
Viscosity at 20ºC: 3071 mPa s
