Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

The aquatic toxicity of EGDN was classified GHS-CLP Regulation with the following results:

EGDN does not classify as Acute Category 1[1]because the representative LC50 values for fish and EC50 values for daphnia (crustacean) and algae are not below 1 mg/L. (Classification criterion is EC50 or LC50 < 1 mg/L)

The representative chronic toxicity values for EGDN range from 0.03 to 3.23 mg/L (i.e., potentially triggering Chronic Category 1 and 2; Classification criteria are EC50 or LC50 < 1 mg/L for Category 1 and <10 mg/L for Category 2.). However, EGDN does not classify for Chronic (Long-term) Aquatic Hazard because the log Kow is less than 3, and, based on the combined QSAR modelling of biodegradation and read-across from biodegradation studies on nitroglycerine (refer to USEPA 2010), degradation is expected to be >70% in 28 days.
