Additional information

Whole substance

In a study conducted according to OECD guideline 201 (RCC, 1997) the ErC50 and EbC50 after 72 hours of exposure was determined as above the saturation concentration ((WAF) undiluted filtrate of the test item with a nominal loading rate of 100mg/L). The NOErC and NOEbC was determined to be equal or above saturation concentration ((WAF) undiluted filtrate of the test item with a nominal loading rate of 100mg/L). Based on these results, it can be expected that the poorly soluble constituents of CAS 192268-65-8 do not exhibit adverse effects to algae.

Constituents

Based on the results on the whole substance which was tested with water accomodated fractions, it can be expected that the constituents do not exhibit adverse effects to algae as well. The substance was tested up to 100mg/L loading. As the constituents are of poor water solubility there is no adverse effects to be expected. In case there are constituents of better water solubility, the NOEC is expected to be >1mg/L for constituents of at least 1%.

Structure A

One guideline compliant study on the toxicity to aquatic algae is available. In this study (Dr. U. Noack, 2013), a culture of Desmodesmus subspicatus was exposed to the test item for 72 hours at saturation concentration (undiluted filtrate of the test item with a nominal loading rate of 100mg/L) under static conditions and in accordance with the OECD guideline 201. Due to its low solubility in water, the test item was tested by preparing Water-Accommodated-Fractions (WAFs). The ErC50 (growth rate) and EyC50 (yield) values were above saturation concentration (undiluted filtrate of the test item with a nominal loading rate of 100mg/L). There was no significant growth inhibition in the test item concentration. . ErC10 (growth rate) and EyC10 (yield) is determined to be equal or higher than the saturated solution of the substance.
