Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Adsorption/Desorption

Adsorption to solid soil phase is not expected. For tert-butyl acrylate log Koc values for the uncharged molecule were calculated to be 138.9 L/kg (log Koc = 2.1428) and 23.14 L/kg (log Koc = 1.3643)

when based on the log Kow method and the MCI method, respectively.

Henry's law constant

For the substance tert-butyl acrylate the Henry's law constant was calculated to be 21.9 Pa·m³/mole based on the Bond Contribution Method, indicating slow evaporation of the substance from the water surface into the atmosphere.

Distribution modelling

Distribution modeling using Mackay Level I indicates that tert-butyl acrylate is likely to partition to the air compartment (97.8%) with the remainder partitioning into water (2.1%); negligible amounts are predicted to occur in other environmental compartments (soil, sediment) (Level I Fugacity, 2017).

Based on the physical chemical properties of tert-butyl acrylate, the atmosphere is the main target compartment for distribution and only small amounts will remain in the hydrosphere and geosphere.
