Description of key information

The viscosity of resin acids and rosin acids, esters with diethylene glycol was measured at 40°C and 60°C.

At 40°C the viscosity of the test item varied with shear rate and was considered to be demonstrating non-Newtonian properties. At 40°C viscosity ranged from 10273 mPa/s at a shear rate of 0.1 s-1 to 13212 mPa/s at a shear rate of 1.5 s-1.

At 60°C the test item was considered to act as a Newtonian liquid and the mean viscosity was 1358 mPa/s.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A GLP-compliant study, conducted according to OECD Method 114, was provided for Resin acids and rosin acids, esters with diethylene glycol (Harlan Laboratories Ltd., 2012b).
