Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The effects of the test item L-menthan-3-one (CAS 14073-97-3) to daphnids (Daphnia magna) were investigated according to the EU Method C.2 (1992) under GLP conditions (Caspers & Müller 2000). The test item is accompanied by its 2R,5R menthone stereoisomer (CAS 1196-31-2) and fits in the composition profile of the submission item and the study is considered as reliable. The test organisms were exposed under static conditions in closed vessels to nominal concentrations of 0, 6.3, 12.5, 25, 50 and 100 mg/L for 48 hours. The doses were verified by analysis of the TOC and found sufficiently constant under the test conditions. As the recovery was below 80% the effects were assigned to measured concentrations. The 48-hour EC50 was calculated by Probit analysis to be 30.6 mg/L.
