Additional information

No data are available on the hydrolytic stability of Fatty acids, C8-16, 2-ethylhexyl esters. Due to the ready biodegradability hydrolysis testing is not required under REACh. In addition, based on QSAR (HDROWIN v2.00) and a read across study from Fatty acids, C16 -C18 and C18-unsatd., branched and linear, Bu esters (CAS 163961-32-8), it is established that hydrolysis represents a negligible pathway for the environmental fate for the Fatty acid esters in the category (DT50 > 1 yr).

Based on a QSAR estimation using SRC AOP v1.92, Fatty acids, C8-16, 2-ethylhexyl esters is susceptile to indirect photodegradation in air. The estimated half time for the reaction with OH-radicals is 16.12 hours (24 hr day; OH-concentration 0.5E+06).
