Description of key information

2-ethylhexyl benzoate is considered to gradually evaporate from the water surface into air. In the atmospheric compartment, degradation by indirect photolysis can be expected. Abiotic hydrolysis of 2-ethylhexyl benzoate is not a relevant pathway for degradation as the substance is readily biodegradable and is expected to be eliminated by biodegradation from the aquatic environment. Additionally, estimated hydrolysis rates are very low.
