Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

- Endpoint:
- flammable solids
- Remarks:
- Pyrophoric liquids/solids (migrated from section 'Flammability')
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- 2001
- Reliability:
- 2 (reliable with restrictions)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- other: Basic data given: comparable to guideline EU A. 10
- Principles of method if other than guideline:
- Determination of the combustion class number ("Brennzahl" BZ)
- Interpretation of results:
- non flammable
- Remarks:
- Migrated information
- Conclusions:
- The test substance does not burn independently at room temperature (combustion class BZ 3: "Local burning or glowing without spread").
The substance does not have to be classified as a "readily combustible solid", class 4.1, of the transport regulations. - Executive summary:
The flammability of the test item was tested by determination of the combustion class number ("Brennzahl" BZ). The test substance does not burn independently at room temperature (combustion class BZ 3: "Local burning or glowing without spread").
Reference
The substance burned at room temperature only around the ignition source (BZ 3, which is "local burning or glowing without spread" according to the definition of HVBG, 2001 (see below)).
At 100 °C, the test substance burned independently (BZ 5, which is "spread of an open fire" according to the definition of HVBG, 2001 (see below)). It was observed that the powder heap burned only at the surface while the residue showed swelling, which is supposed to be caused by the heat of the flame.
As the flame did not propagate at room temperature, no burning rate was determined.
