Description of key information

Reliable studies of skin and eye irritation are available: these found only minor and transient reactions to treatment.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin irritation / corrosion

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not irritating)

Eye irritation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not irritating)

Additional information

Although the Guinea pig test for skin irritation used a maximum topical application of 50% test substance in Arachis oil instead of testing undiluted material as specified in the EC B.4 (rabbit) test guideline, use of 24h exposure and occluded dressing was

considered to compensate for this and to permit a conclusion that the test substance was non-irritating (guideline period 4h,

non-occlusive dressing, sample moistened with water/vehicle as necessary).

.

Effect level: empty Endpoint conclusion: Adverse effect observed

Justification for classification or non-classification

The transient and minor reactions observed in these in vivo studies make it appropriate to consider the test substance to be non-irritating and hence no classification for this endpoint is appropriate.
