To determine the toxicity of 4 -chlorobutyryl chloride (CAS 4635 -59 -0) to microorganisms two test were made according to OECD 209 (Activated Sludge, Respiration Inhibition Test) and ISO 8192 (Test for Inhibition of Oxygen Consumption by Activated Sludge) using activated sludge, domestic. The obtained 30 -min EC20 values were > 1000 mg/L (BASF AG, 1999, 99/0112/08/1) and > 520 mg/L (BASF AG, 1988, 01.505/86), respectively.
In conclusion, the inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriately low concentrations.
