Description of key information

Two tests performed on daphnia showed an EC50_48h of 30 and 52 mg/L. Therefore, DEAPA can be considered as harmful to aquatic invertebrates. These data are in agreement with the QSAR model ECOSAR.

Additional information

Diethylaminopropylamine (DEAPA) acute toxicity to Daphnia magna has been investigated according to ISO 6341 15 (Arkema, 1991). EC50_48h was determined to be 30.16 mg/L. This data is in agreement with the QSAR model ECOSAR.

The concentrations were not measured in the vessels during the test but DEAPA is expected to be stable in water. Indeed, DEAPA is miscible in water, its vapor pressure is low and it is not subject to hydrolysis. Therefore there are no cause of significant deviation from nominal to real substance concentrations.

As a supportive study, toxicity to Daphnia magna has also been investigated according to EU Directive 79/831/EEC, Annex V, part C (BASF, 1989).EC50_48h was determined to be 51.8 mg/L.
