Additional information

One experimental study (2013) was available and was selected as key study.

The aim of the study was to evaluate the potential of degradation of Trifluoromethanesulfonic acid in ready biodegradability OECD 301D test, under GLP conditions.

Degradation was followed by analysis of dissolved oxygen over a 28-day period. The amount of oxygen taken up by the microbial population during biodegradation of the test item, corrected for uptake by the blank inoculum run in parallel, is expressed as a percentage of COD.

There was 0% of degradation after 28 days. No toxicity to the inoculum was observed.

In these conditions, Trifluoromethanesulfonic acid was not readily biodegradable.
