First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air. Seek medical attention if

irritation occurs.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and

seek immediate medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash affected area with soap and water. Relaunder

contaminated clothing before re-use. Seek medical attention

if irritation occurs.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray, carbon dioxide, foam or dry chemical powder may

be used.

Product arising from burning: Products of combuston may contain oxides of carbon and

nitrogen together with hydrogen chlorine gas and some soot.

Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing

apparatus must be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Evacuate personnel from immediate vicinity.

Wear appropriate protective equipment, see 2.3.10. Avoid

dust formation by damping down with water. Absorb spillages

of solutions with a suitable inert material (eg sand or

soil). Carefully transfer the spillage to suitably labelled

waste containers, or use a sealed industrial vacuum machine.

Clean the spillage area with water and detergent.

Dispose of waste material by in accordance with local

regulations.

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance should be handled in conditions of good

industrial hygiene and in conformity with any local

regulations in order to avoid exposure.

Engineering controls are necessary to reduce exposure to the

substance. When exposure cannot adequately controlled

appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn.

Such protective equipment should conform to the appropriate

international or national standards as follows;

Chemical protective gloves to Standard prEN374

Chemical resistant clothing to Standard EN368

Eye protection to Standard prEN166

When necessary appropriate respiratory protection should be

used. e.g.a dust mask conforming to EN149 FFP1.

Storage: Store in sealed containers in a cool, dry, well-ventilated

area, away from sources of heat or static discharge.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Plastic bottle in cardboard box.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for recycling is not economically or technically

feasible. In principle, it may be possible to recover larger

spillages of uncontaminated material for subsequent use.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: No chemical treatment is practicable to neutralise the

hazardous health and environmental properties.

The flammability and potential dust explosion (organic

powder) and oxidising properties (perchlorate salt) hazards

will be controlled by appropriate handling and storage.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Contaminated containers or spillages of solutions mixed with

inert material (eg sand or soil) may be disposed of by

landfill at an authorised tip in accordance with local

regulations (A650).

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance can be disposed of by incineration by burning

under controlled conditions at a licensed waste treatment

processor in accordance with local regulations. Stack gases

should be scrubbed to remove oxides of nitrogen and

chlorine-containing compounds (A661).

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance should not normally be discharged directly to

the sewage system or the aqueous environment. However,

adverse effects on sewage treatment systems would be

unlikely.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain.
