Any other information on results incl. tables
The flash point can be defined as the lowest temperature, at 101.3kPa, at which the test liquid in a closed test vessel evolves vapours, under the conditions defined in the test method, in such an amount that a flammable vapour/ air mixture is produced.
In the preliminary test, carried out using a Pensky-Martens flash point apparatus, no flash point was observed between the temperatures 20°C and 56°C.
In the main test, carried out using an Abel-Pensky flash point tester, no flash point was observed between the temperatures 17°C and 58°C. It was not possible to heat the test substance to a temperature higher than 58°C since the test flame extinguished when lowered into the vapour space of the cup.
The atmospheric pressure on the day of the measurements was recorded as 97.4kPa.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- No flash point was observed using an Abel-Pensky flash point temperature
- Executive summary:
An experiment was carried out to determine the flash point of 1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethyl-2,2,2-trifluoroethyl ether, using the Abel-Pensky flash point tester. The starting temperature was 17°C and the test substance was then heated with a temperature rise of ~1-2K/min. The test flame was applied at temperatures that were a multiple of 0.5°C. No flash point was observed for 1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethyl-2,2,2-trifluoroethyl ether between the temperatures of 17°C and 58°C in the main test.
