Results and discussion
Partition coefficient
- Type:
- log Pow
- Partition coefficient:
- > 6.5
- Temp.:
- 25 °C
- pH:
- > 5 - < 6
- Details on results:
- The chromatogram of the test substance gave one peak with a retention time of 13.923 min (mean). As the retention time of the test substance (13.923 min) lay above the retention time of 4,4'-DDT (8.360 min) and so outside of the calibrated range, a log Pow could only be extrapolated. The calculated log POW of the test item is 6.8 ± 0.0.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- The log Pow is reported with >6.5 at 25°C. The retention time of the test substance is outside the range of the calibration.
- Executive summary:
The study was performed using a HPLC with a C18 column. Seven reference items with different retention times and thiourea for the determination of the dead time were used to produce a calibration curve, since retention time on hydrophobic columns and POW are correlated.
The chromatogram of the test item Stearyl Sulfobetaine gave one peak with a retention time of 13.923 min (mean). As the retention time of the test item (13.923 min) lay above the retention time of 4,4'-DDT (8.360 min) and so outside of the calibrated range, a log Pow could only be extrapolated. The calculated log POW of the test item is 6.8 ± 0.0.
